Day 12: Emotions: Good Servants, Bad Masters
James 1:14–15
“But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
Emotions are a gift from God, but they were never meant to govern our lives. Like fire, they can warm or burn—depending on how they’re handled. When emotions rise unchecked, they can distort truth and pull us into temptation. Feelings are real, but they’re not always reliable. Scripture reminds us that temptation often begins in the realm of our desires—emotional reactions that haven’t been submitted to Christ. The goal isn’t to ignore emotions but to align them under the authority of God’s truth. In His hands, emotions become tools—not tyrants.
Reflection: Are your emotions leading or following your faith?

Prayer Focus: Order my emotions under Your Lordship, Jesus. Teach me to feel deeply without being driven by what I feel.
