Day 3: Roots Before Fruit
Scripture: Jeremiah 17:7-8 - “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Healthy things grow downward before they grow outward. Scripture describes a person who trusts the Lord as a tree. Not because trees grow fast. Because trees grow deep.
Roots are never seen. But they determine everything. The depth of your root system decides how you handle heat, drought, and pressure. Shallow roots collapse under conditions that deep roots survive.
Many people pray for fruit while avoiding formation. God refuses shortcuts that weaken longevity. If your season feels slow, ask a different question.
Not, “Why isn’t anything happening?”
But, “What is God strengthening beneath the surface?”
Strong roots hold faith steady when circumstances change. They keep you grounded when praise comes and when it doesn’t. God cares more about sustainability than speed.
Ask yourself honestly: What habits are shaping my root system right now? Prayer that lacks consistency produces shallow growth. Scripture without obedience produces weak anchoring. Roots are built quietly. Daily. Faithfully.
Reflection: What spiritual rhythms have you neglected that need rebuilding?
Prayer: God, strengthen my roots. Teach me to value depth over visibility. Anchor my life in You so I can stand in every season.
Practice:
Review your daily spiritual habits.
Recommit to one simple rhythm you can sustain.
Growth is happening. Even if no one sees it yet.
